ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed for the following reliefs:- "Directing the Respondents to correct the father's name from Robert to Robert Franklin in the Birth Certificates of the minor children R.Remy and R.Rexlin, based on a representation dated 18/11/2025.."

2. The petitioner's case is that her late husband's original name is Robert Franklin, which is evidenced by his Aadhaar Card and Death Certificate. However, in the Birth Certificates of her minor children, the father's name has been erroneously recorded as Robert instead of Robert Franklin.

3. The petitioner would further submit that, on 18.11.2025, as per the instructions of the school authorities where her children are presently studying, she had made a representation to the respondents seeking rectification of the father's name in the Birth Certificates of her children. However, no action has been taken on the said representation to date. Hence, the present Writ Petition.

4. Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the records.

5. Considering the limited request of the petitioner and taking note of the fact that the respondents are duty-bound to correct clerical or factual errors in public documents, the respondents are directed to consider and dispose of the petitioner's representation dated 18.11.2025 seeking correction of the father's name in the Birth Certificates of her children, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of three weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. Accordingly, the Writ Petition stands allowed. No costs. 20-01-2026 Index: Yes/No Speaking/Non-speaking order SHR
