Respondent(s) COMMON PRAYER; The writ petitions are filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to pay interest amounts to the Petitioner for the belatedly paid Service Gratuity, Provident Fund, Leave salary and Commutation of Pension at the rate of 6 percentage per annum for 24 months of delayed payment in the light of the judgment passed by this Honble Court on 23.10.2024 in W.P.No. 30766 of 2024

Ms.S.Pavithra RR1 & 2 Mr.C.S.K.Sathish R3 in all the writ petitions COMMON ORDER The petitions have been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to pay interest amounts to the Petitioner for the belatedly paid Service Gratuity, Provident Fund, Leave salary and Commutation of Pension at the rate of 6 percentage per annum for 24 months of delayed payment in the light of the judgment passed by this Honble Court on 23.10.2024 in W.P.No. 30766 of 2024
2. The case of the petitioners is that they were employed in the respondent Transport Corporation and retired from service on attaining the age of superannuation. However, the terminal benefits have been settled to the petitioners belatedly and the interest component has not been paid for the delayed period. In view of the same, the petitioners submitted representations to the respondents to pay interest for the delayed period. Since the said representations were not considered, the present writ petitions have been filed.
3. The learned Standing Counsel for the respondent Transport Corporation would fairly submit that in view of the similar order passed by this
Court in W.P.No.20622 of 2025, they are willing to pay the interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of the eligible and admissible amount.
4. Heard the learned counsel for both sides.
5. In view of the above submission of the learned Standing Counsel, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of admissible terminal benefits from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursal of the terminal benefits of the petitioners within a period of six (6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
