ORDER

Though the order dated 19.10.2016 passed by this Court in W.P.No.36477 of 2016, is the subject matter of contempt, and out of 32 petitioners in the said writ petition, six

petitioners have filed the present Contempt Petition alleging non-compliance of the above order, in and by which, this Court, while disposing of the said Writ Petition in W.P.No.36477 of 2014, has directed the respondent to consider the representation of the petitioners dated 12.07.2016 and pass appropriate order in the light of W.A.No.493 of 2016 dated 25.04.2016 and W.A.No.631 of 2016 dated 13.06.2016 and on the basis of the proposals of The Chief Engineer (Buildings), Public Works Department, Chepauk, Chennai - 600 005, made in Letter No.S4(1)/22909/2010 dated 15.02.2011, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of the order.

2. Today, when the Contempt Petition is taken up for consideration, the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondent would submit that pursuant to the directions issued by this Court to consider the representations of the petitioners, the claim made by the petitioners was rejected by the respondent Vide letter No.125/C2/2017-3, dated 31.07.2017 and a copy of the said letter is produced for perusal of the Court and a copy is also served on the learned counsel for the petitioner.

3. In view of the above, nothing survives for further adjudication in this Contempt Petition and hence it is closed. However, the petitioner is at liberty to

challenge the said proceedings dated 31.07.2017, before the appropriate forum, in accordance with law.
