Though the records indicate that the order of punishment reducing the rank of the petitioner is not preceded with by any enquiry as contemplated under Rule 17(b)(i) of the Tamil Nadu Civil Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, the learned State counsel vehemently contends that the enquiry was conducted and thereafter only, the impugned order was passed and therefore, seeks short adjournment so as to produce the Original File pertaining to the enquiry.

List the matter on 19.01.2026 under the caption 'for orders' and also for production of the Original File pertaining to the enquiry without fail as undertaken by the State counsel.
