O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed, seeking direction to the respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner and to pass orders on the same. The petitioner joined the police department on 12.08.1980 as Grade II constable. He was promoted as Head constable on 01.12.1999 and was appointed as Special Sub Inspector of Police on 16.03.2010. He was posted in the Vigilance Department of the Electricity Board and thereafter he was selected for promotion to the post of Sub Inspector of Police on 03.01.2013. After serving for nearly 38 years in the police department, the petitioner retired from service. The grievance of the petitioner is that without considering the seniority, his juniors were promoted and no explanation was given for non promotion of this petitioner. This has resulted in improper calculation of retirement benefits. The petitioner has submitted a representation on 23.08.2018 in this regard. As this representation was not considered, the petitioner has filed the present writ petition.

3. In view of the limited relief sought for, this Court is of the view that it is not necessary to dwell into the merits of the issue, but it would be suffice to direct the respondents to consider the representation of the petitioner and pass orders on the same within a particular time frame.

5. In the above circumstances, this writ petition is disposed of directing the respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 29.08.2018 and to pass orders thereon, in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
