O R D E R

The instant Writ Petition has been filed for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondent to consider and pass orders on the application submitted by the petitioner seeking correction of date of birth entry in the passport of the petitioner bearing No.Z4017384 as 26.12.1952 instead of 28.11.1950.

2. The petitioner also produced his other documents including certificates in support of his date of birth.

3. The respondent by filing a counter in paragraph Nos.6 and 7 stated that for any change in date of birth, the petitioner has to apply for reissue of passport in the Passport Seva system along with birth certificate, suitable explanation https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

and other documents. The respondent otherwise cannot have any powers to make alteration in the passport already issued. Therefore, if the petitioner applies for reissue of passport in the Passport Seva system along with necessary fees, relevant proof i.e. birth certificate and suitable explanation for not claiming his correct date of birth for last 30 years, the respondent office will consider the same and issue new passport in accordance with the Passport Manual.

Accordingly, the petitioner is directed to approach the Passport Office and make his application along with necessary documents within a period of two (2) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and the respondent is directed to consider and pass orders within a period of four (4) weeks thereafter.

5. With the above directions, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
