O R D E R
The relief sought for in the present writ petition is to direct the 2nd respondent to provide the electricity connection to the petitioner's house situated at No.20/2, Arokkiyasamy Street, Varadharajampettai, Kodampakkam, Chennai-24 by considering the petitioner's application dated 06.10.2018.

The learned counsel appearing on behalf of the writ petitioner states that he made an application to the respondents for providing electricity service connection in the premises, wherein he resides. However, his application was not considered by the authorities competent and, therefore, he is constrained to move the present writ petition.
3. The learned counsel appearing on behalf of the respondents made a submission that the respondents had received the application submitted by the writ petitioner. However, the case of the petitioner was not considered on account of the fact that there is no door number for his residence. Therefore, the respondents are unable to consider his application with reference to the Tamil Nadu Electricity Supply Code.

Now it is brought to the notice of this Court that even in form-I filed by the writ petitioner, the door number is stated as No.20/2, Arokkiyasamy Street, Varadharajampettai, Kodampakkam, Chennai-24. This apart, the learned counsel for the petitioner states the door number had already been mentioned in his application and the same has not been considered by the Authorities.
5. In such circumstances, this Court is of an opinion that electricity supply being an essential one, the same cannot be unnecessarily delayed or denied by the authorities concerned. The application submitted by the writ petitioner has been admitted by the respondents. Thus, the respondents have to consider the case of the writ petitioner for providing electricity service connection, otherwise, if he is eligible to get the service connection.

In this view of the matter, the respondents are directed to consider the application submitted by the writ petitioner for providing electricity service connection in his premises at No.20/2, Arokkiyasamy Street, Varadharajampettai, Kodampakkam, Chennai-24, within a period of two(2) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
7.Accordingly, the writ petition stands disposed of. No costs. Consequently, the connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
