O R D E R
This Writ Petition has been filed seeking for a direction to the respondents to disburse the compensation to the petitioners.
2. According to the petitioners, the petitioners' lands were acquired under private negotiation for formation of Amaravathi water canal in the year 1996. Thereafter, the compensation amount was not paid to the petitioners. Hence, they have sent their representations to the respondents. Finally, the Government also issued the Government Order in G.O.Ms.No.273, Public Works Department, dated 12.10.2018, sanctioning a sum of Rs.2,72,43,653/- towards payment of compensation. Even after sanctioning the amount, so far, the compensation was not paid to the petitioners. Hence, the present Writ Petition has been filed by the petitioners.
3. Earlier, notice was ordered to the respondents. Today, when the matter was taken up for hearing, Mr.M.Elumalai, learned counsel appearing for the respondents produced the copy of written instructions, and submitted that the amount has already been sanctioned by the Government, and the authorities are now negotiating with the landowners. On 09.11.2018, a field inspection was also conducted by the authority. Subsequently, on 13.11.2018, a joint meeting was also conducted. Now, the amount will be disbursed within a period of two months from today to the petitioners.
4. Considering the above submissions, the respondents are directed to disburse the award amount to the petitioners within a period of two months from today.
