O R D E R
This petition has been filed for a direction to the 2nd respondent police to provide police protection for a lecture to be conducted on 02.12.2018 at K.K.Nagar.
2. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the festival committee decided to celebrate "Sree man Ayya Narayanasaamy Vaikundar Tirupathi temple 26th Paalmurai Thiruvizha Thiru Edu Vaasippu festival from 23.11.2018 to 02.12.2018. According to the learned counsel for the petitioner, this has been celebrated for the last 25 years. Permission was sought for by the petitioner to conduct a spiritual lecture on 02.12.2018 from 10.00 p.m. to 01.00 a.m. and a representation was also made by the petitioner to the respondent police in this regard. However, the respondent police did not take any action and therefore, the present petition has been filed seeking for appropriate directions. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/
3. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor, on instructions, submitted that the 2nd respondent has already recommended to give permission and also police protection for conducting the festival on 11.11.2018.
4. In view of the decision taken by the 2nd respondent to recommend for permission and the police protection, there shall be a direction to the 2nd respondent Police to provide police protection for the lecture to be conducted by the petitioner on 02.12.2018 from 10.00 pm to 01.00 am at Kizhakku Vanniyar Street, K.K.Nagar, Virugampakkam, Chennai. It is left open to the 2nd respondent to impose reasonable condition for the purpose of conducting the lecture and the petitioner is bound to comply with the same.
6. In view of the above this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
