Mr.L.P.Shanmugasundaram Special Govt Pleader (Cooperatives) Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to disburse the balance share amount of Rs.20,000/- and the divident amount lying in petitioner's account ie., for membership No.4206 as on 01.10.2018 with interest at 12% per annum with effect from 01.04.2014 by considering the petitioner's representation dated 10.10.2018 within the stipulated time as may be fixed by this Honourable Court.

The petitioner was working as driver in the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation and retired from service on 31.03.2014. He was also a member of the respondent society and his membership number was 4206. On the date of his retirement ie., 31.03.2014, he was entitled to get the share amount credited in his account from the respondent ie., Rs.69,835/-. But, he was paid only a sum of Rs.50,535/- on 29.4.2017. The balance amount of Rs.20,000/- along with the accrued dividend amount for the period 01.04.2011 to 01.10.2018 for the said amount has not been paid. The petitioner has sent a representation dated 10.10.2018 in this regard, which has not been considered. Hence, the present writ petition.

2. Mr.L.P.Shanmugasundaram, learned Special Government Pleader (Cooperatives) takes notice on behalf of the respondent.
3. Heard the learned counsel appearing on either side and perused the materials available on record.

In view of the limited relief sought for, this Court is of the view that it is not necessary to dwell into the merits of the issue, but it would be suffice to direct the respondents to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 10.10.2018 and pass orders on the same within a particular time frame.
5. In the above circumstances, this writ petition is disposed of directing the 1st respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated10.10.2018 and settle the amount due to the petitioner, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
