This petition has been filed seeking for a direction to the respondent police to provide police protection.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner had married one Karthikeyan. The marriage was an intercaste marriage. Therefore, there was a striff resistance from the families of both the petitioner and her husband. As a

result of the same, the petitioner and her husband are not able to enter Chidambaram Taluk where the petitioner's parents are residing and Kattumannar Taluk where the husband's parents are residing. The petitioner and her husband are facing potential life threat and therefore, a representation was also made on 22.11.2018 to the respondent police seeking for police protection and since no action has been taken, the present petition has been filed seeking for appropriate relief.

3. The petitioner being a major has chosen to marry one Karthikeyan and the parents of the petitioner and her husband will not have any right to interfere with their life. The parents of the petitioner and the husband, cannot take law into their hands and cause threat to the petitioner and her husband. This Court takes note of certain serious averments that have been made in the petition filed in the above criminal original petition and this Court is satisfied that there is a potential life threat for the petitioner and her husband. Therefore, necessary directions will have to be given in this case.

4. The 2nd and 3rd respondents are directed to call the relevant parties for an enquiry and advice them not to interfere and cause threat to the petitioner and her husband. If in spite of the same, any threat is caused to the petitioner and her husband, the 2nd and 3rd respondents shall take immediate action against the concerned persons in accordance with law. The 2nd and 3rd respondents shall also give appropriate police protection to the petitioner and her husband Karthikeyan.

5. This Criminal Original Petition is disposed of with the above direction.
