[Order of the Court was made by M.M.SUNDRESH, J.] In pursuance of the earlier order dated 01.04.2019 disposing the Habeas Corpus Petition, a Status Report dated 26.07.2019 is filed by the Joint Commissioner of Police, South Zone, Chennai. The Report would indicate that there are five Police Stations functioning as of now.

2. Insofar as Perumbakkam is concerned, a recommendation has been sent through the Director General of Police, Tamil Nadu, vide letter No.Estt.VI(1)/91434/2018 dated 12.02.2019 of the Commissioner of Police, Greater Chennai Police, which is still pending consideration. Apart from the same, steps have been taken to take care of the children by introducing various activities. The NGOs have also been made to involve in the development of the youth.

3. From the above, we are satisfied with the action taken thus far. However, after perusing the Report, we direct the Commissioner of Police, namely the second respondent and the Superintendent of Police, Kanchipuram to take appropriate steps to increase the strength of the five police station which are noted hereunder:- S.No Police Station Sanctioned Strength INS SI HC Gr.I Gr.II Total J-9 Thuraipakkam PS L & O Crime J-10 Semmanchery PS L & O Crime J-11 Kanagi Nagar PS L & O Crime - - - - J-13 Tharamani PS L&O Crime - - - - S-10 Pallikarani PS L&O Crime

4. Similarly, the Superintendent of Police, Kanchipuram will have to consider increasing the police strength of Thalampur Police Station also.

5. We further direct the Secretary to Government, Home Department, Fort St. George, Chennai to take appropriate action on the communication dated 12.02.2019 routed through the Director General of Police, Tamil Page No.:2/4

Nadu. Such an action is expected to be taken within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. (M.M.S.,J.)
