The petitioner was enlisted as a Grade-II Constable on 01.08.1984 and he was upgraded as Head Constable in the year 1992 and thereafter, he was promoted to the post of SubInspector of Police on 03.08.2007. Now, it is the grievance of the petitioner that even after the completion of 11 years of service in the capacity of Sub-Inspector of Police, he was not given promotion to the post of Inspector, though his batch mates were given promotion to the post of Inspector. In this regard, he made representations dated 08.02.2018 and 24.07.2018 to the respondents seeking promotion to the post of Inspector of Police, on par with his batch mates with effect from the year 2015 with all attendant benefits, but, the same was not considered by the respondents. Hence, the petitioner is before this Court.

2. Mr.A.N.Thambidurai, learned Special Government Pleader takes notice for the respondents.

3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that it would suffice, if the petitioner's representations are directed to be considered by the respondents, within a stipulated time.

4. In view of the limited prayer sought for herein, this Court, without going into the merits of this case, directs the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 24.07.2018 and to pass orders thereon, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. With the above direction, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
