PRAYER: Criminal Original Petition filed under Section 482 of Cr.P.C, to direct the first and second respondent to provide necessary police protection to the petitioner and her husband family members pursuant to the petitioner representation dated on 30.11.2018.

O R D E R

This Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking for police protection to the petitioner and her husband and his family members.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner fell in love with one Issac Sammuel. This was objected by the petitioner's family and they never agreed for the petitioner to marry the said Issac Sammuel, since, both of them belong to different communities.

3. The learned counsel would further submit that on 31.08.2017, the petitioner got married to the said Issac Sammuel without the knowledge of her family members. After the marriage, the petitioner is now living with the said Issac Sammuel and his parents at Ashok Nagar, Chennai. The learned counsel submitted that the third respondent, who is the father of the petitioner along with some others are now threatening the https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

petitioner and her husband with dire consequences and there is a potential threat to the life and limb of the petitioner and her husband. Therefore, a complaint was given by the petitioner on 30.11.2018 to the respondents, seeking for police protection.

4. Admittedly, in this case, the petitioner has already married the said Issac Sammuel. The petitioner being a major has chosen her own life. The parents of the petitioner cannot interfere with the life of the petitioner and they cannot cause threat to the petitioner and her husband and his family members. The petitioner has already given a complaint to the respondents in this regard.

5. In the facts and circumstances of the case, there shall be a direction to the second respondent to immediately call the parties for enquiry and advice the third respondent not to interfere with the life of the petitioner. If, inspite of the same the third respondent continuous to cause threat, appropriate action shall be taken against him in accordance with law. If necessary, the second respondent shall also provide police protection to the petitioner and her husband and his family members.

6. This Criminal Original Petition is disposed of with the above direction.
