ORDER
The present petition has been filed for a direction to the respondents respondents to settle all the terminal benefits arising out of the death of the petitioner's husband, Mr.Velu, Conductor (Staff No.C25019), Perambur Depot, together with interest for the belated payment and to appoint her in any suitable post in the Metropolitan Transport Corporation, Chennai, on compassionate grounds commensurate with her qualification.
2. It is the case of the petitioner that her husband died in harness after putting in 15 years of service in the respondent Corporation. Her husband died on 1.1.2012 and that the petitioner is the only legal heir of the deceased. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/
Immediately after her husband's death, the petitioner submitted a representation on 26.3.2012 to the respondents seeking payment of terminal benefits. With regard to the same, the petitioner was directed to appear before Personnel Section of the Corporation with all the connected records. The petitioner appeared and produced all the records. However, the terminal benefits have not been settled till date. Therefore, the petitioner submitted a representation on 19.4.2013 seeking payment of terminal benefits and also seeking appointment on compassionate grounds. However, no orders have been passed on the said representation till date. Therefore, the present writ petition has been filed.
4. Ms.Rajeni Ramdoss, learned standing counsel takes notice for the respondents and submit that the representation of the petitioner will be considered within the time frame fixed by this Court.
5. In view of the limited relief sought for, this Court is of the view that it would be suffice to direct the respondents to consider the representation dated 19.4.2013 submitted by the petitioner, within a particular time frame.
6. In the above circumstances, this writ petition is disposed of directing the respondents to consider the representation dated 19.4.2013, submitted by the petitioner and pass orders, in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
