ORDER
This Writ Petition has been filed to include the petitioner's name in the selection list for the post of Helper (Trainees) by direct recruitment 2013-2014.
2. There is no representation on behalf of the petitioner. Heard the learned counsel for the respondents and perused the materials available on record.
3. The petitioner had completed SSLC and also completed ITI course for a period of two years. Thereafter, he had also registered in the Employment Exchange, Vellore District, in the year 1994. While being
so, the respondents called for interview to the post of Apprentice by direct recruitment. Accordingly, the petitioner's name was sponsored by the employment exchange. He was selected as an Apprentice and he completed his Apprenticeship for a period of one year from July 2001 to July 2002. He had attended the written test and theory exams and secured 469 marks out of 700. Thereafter, he had also completed his +2 examination and the respondents called for applications to the post of Helper by G.O. (Ms).No.65 P and AR (K) Department dated 27.05.2009. The petitioner was called for interview through employment exchange for the post of Helper in the third respondent department on 05.11.2013. He attended the interview. Though the petitioner scored high marks, his name was not included in the selection list for the year 2013-2014. Therefore, the petitioner sought to include his name also in the selection list.
4. A perusal of the counter filed by the third respondent revealed that the cut off marks for Backward Community for the post of ITI is 79.48%. Whereas, the petitioner had scored only 71.85% and as such he has not reached the zone of selection. Therefore, he is not eligible for the
selection to the post of ITI Helper (Trainee).
5. In view of the above, this writ petition is devoid of merits and is liable to be dismissed. Accordingly, this writ petition stands dismissed. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous petition is closed. No costs. 17.07.2023 Internet : Yes Index : Yes/No Speaking order/Non-speaking order mn
