PRAYER: Criminal Original Petition filed under Section 482 of the Cr.P.C., to direct the 2nd respondent herein to give the police protection to the petitioner herein.

O R D E R

This Criminal Original Petition has been filed by the petitioner seeking for police protection. The complaint of the petitioner is that her parents are forcing her to marry and the petitioner who is pursuing her career does not want to marry at this stage.

The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner is getting threatening calls from the parents and therefore, she has given a complaint to the 2nd respondent. Since no action was taken, the present petition has been filed seeking for police protection.

The learned Additional Public Prosecutor on instructions would submit that the 2nd respondent had taken the complaint given by the petitioner on file in CSR No.921 of 2018 and has conducted an enquiry and closed the complaint on the ground that the marriage proposal of the petitioner was dropped, since the petitioner was not willing to marry. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

In view of the above, the apprehension of the petitioner that she is being forced to marry by her parents is no more in existence. Since the marriage proposal itself has now been dropped, there is no potential threat for the petitioner from her parents. The petitioner as a major is entitled to take care of her own life and she cannot be forced by anybody to marry anyone. Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
