The learned counsel for the Petitioner submitted that the Petitioner had filed this Writ Petition seeking directions against the Respondents to dispose of the Petition filed by him seeking permission and police protection to conduct Rekla Race (double bullock cart race) on 06.01.2024 at Karuppumanai-Sethathikadu Aranthangi Road, Thanjavur District between 06.00 am to 10.00 am in connection with "Sri Veema Nayagi Amman Margazhi Thiruvizha and farmers Pongal festival" in Karupumani Village, Peravurani Taluk, Thanjavur District. 2.The learned Additional Public Prosecutor submits that the Rekla race cannot be compared with Jalli Kattu. He would further submit that as 2/5

per the judgment of the Hon'ble Supreme Court, the same was confirmed by the Hon'ble Division Bench of this Court in W.P.(MD)No.29471 of 2023, dated 22.12.2023. The same Respondent Police as a third Respondent herein had denied the permission for conducting Rekla Race. 3.Since the date for the event, Rekla Race had already expired, this Writ Petition is dismissed as infructuous.
