ORDER
(Order of the Court was made by M.DURAISWAMY,J.) The petitioner has filed the above Writ Petition as a Public Interest Litigation to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to take into account the 2011 census for conducting the election for Thirumangalam Municipality, Madurai District by retaining the original reserved Wards 12 and 16 and provide proportionate representation to the SC and STs in the Wards by increasing the Wards from 2 to 4 in proportion to the population of Thirumangalam Municipality by following the recent guidelines issued by the Honourable Apex Court with regard to conduct elections for the local bodies.
2.When the Writ Petition is taken up for hearing, Ms.A.Rajini, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that since the respondents are taking into account the 2011 census for conducting the election as per the orders of the Honourable Apex Court, the Writ Petition may be closed.
3.The learned Additional Advocate General appearing for the respondents 1 & 4 submitted that the authorities are taking into account the 2011 census for conducting the election as per the orders of the Honourable Apex Court.
4.Recording the submissions made by the learned counsel appearing on either side, since the respondents are taking into account the 2011 census for conducting the election as per the orders of the Honourable Apex Court, the Writ Petition is closed. No costs.
