ORDER

This criminal original petition has been filed seeking for a direction to the respondents No.1 and 2 to provide adequate police protection to the petitioner and her family members by considering the petitioner's representation dated 15.12.2024.

2. Heard the learned counsel on either side.

3. The petitioner, who was previously employed in Chennai, stayed with her parents and others in Manali. She has studied M.Com in Saint Anies College at Chennai. At that time, a dobby, one lady namely Muniyamma used to come to her home to wash cloths, along with her grandson, who is the third respondent herein. It came to know that the private movements of the petitioner have been captured in his mobile phone and later, he, by misusing the same, threatened and started collecting money from her.

4. Now, the petitioner had moved away from Chennai and she is in Madurai. the third respondent, who is the accused is continuously 2/6

torturing and demanding money from the petitioner and he also threatened that the private photographs of the petitioner will be published in social media, if she fails to give money. The respondent police, after receipt of the complaint had not taken any action. Hence, this petition came to be filed.

The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondent police submitted that the petitioner had lodged a complaint to the Superintendent of Police on 15.12.2024, which was forwarded to the second respondent and the second respondent had assigned CSR No. 13/2025 on 06.01.2025. Now, the enquiry is in progress. During enquiry, it was found that the third respondent had also earlier given a complaint to Manali Police Station and a case in CSR No.370/2024 was registered.

6. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that Manali Police came to Madurai for enquiry. The petitioner along with her parents gave statement that there was no friendly relationship or any love affair between the petitioner and the third respondent, which was 3/6

claimed by the third respondent in his complaint and it was stoutly denied by the petitioner.

7. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondent police submitted that the petitioner's complaint in CSR No. 13/2025 will be enquired and appropriate action will be taken as per law.

8. Considering the submission made on either side, this Court directs the respondent police to conduct enquiry and complete the same within a period of two months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and ensure that appropriate protection will be given to the petitioner.

9. With the above direction, this criminal original petition is disposed of.
