ORDER
The petitioners seek to quash the final report in C.C.No.18 of 2024 on the file of the Additional Mahila Court, Srivilliputhur, which has been filed for the offences under Sections 498(A), 294(b), 406 and 506(i) of IPC.
2. The allegation in the impugned final report is that the first petitioner is the husband and the second and third petitioners are in-laws of the second respondent; that the petitioners had committed cruelty in connection with the dowry demand and had failed to return the jewels and other articles given to the second respondent as gifts at the time of marriage and thus, committed the aforesaid offences.
3. Admittedly, the dispute arises out of the matrimonial differences between the first petitioner and the second respondent and the second respondent is now presently living with the first petitioner and the parties have now resolved their differences and have entered into a compromise. The parties 2/4
have filed a joint compromise memo, dated 22.10.2025.
4. The petitioners and the second respondent, namely, Vimala (Aadhaar No.2707 6321 5584) are present before this Court in person. They are identified by Mr.N.Krishnamoorthy, Special Sub Inspector of Police, All Women Police Station, Rajapalayam, Virudhunagar District. All the parties confirmed the compromise arrived at between them.
5. In view of the same and considering the nature of the offences and the relationship between the parties, this Court is of the view that no useful purpose would be served in keeping the impugned final report pending trial. Accordingly, the impugned final report in C.C.No.18 of 2024 on the file of the Additional Mahila Court, Srivilliputhur is quashed and the Criminal Original Petition stands allowed. The joint compromise memo dated 22.10.2025 shall form part of this order. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed.
