Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, for issue of Writ of Mandamus, directing the Respondents to implement the SOPs and to uphold public safety and peaceful performance of the festival in the eve of Kanuparai Vattai Festival (Hunting festival) will be conducted by Koodlalager Thirukovil on 16th and 17th February 2023 for 2 days at Anuppanadi, Madurai and consider the Petitioner's Representation dated 29.12.2022. Heard Mr. K.Arunraj, Learned Counsel for the Petitioner, Mr. P.Subbaraj, Learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the First to Third Respondents and Mr. S.Manohar, Learned Counsel for the Fourth Respondent and perused the materials placed on record, apart from the pleadings of the parties.

The Writ Petition has been filed for directing the Respondents to implement the Standard Operating Procedure and to uphold public safety and peaceful 2/5
performance of the festival in the eve of Kanuparai Vattai Festival (Hunting festival), which will be conducted by Kooldalager Thirukovil on 16th and 17th February, 2023 for 2 days at Anuppanadi, Madurai, by considering the representation dated 29.12.2022 made by the Petitioner in that regard. 3.
Learned Counsel for the Fourth Respondent brought to notice that a meeting was held by the Assistant Commissioner, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, Madurai, in the presence of the Joint Commissioner, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, Madurai, in which all the concerned parties had participated and arrived at consensus for conducting Kanupari Vettai Festival on 16.01.2023 and 17.01.2023 and he filed a Memo to that effect along with the copy of the minutes of the said meeting, which has been placed on record.

It shall be incumbent upon the respective parties to carry out their respective obligations and if any modification is required in future, they are not precluded in approaching the concerned authorities following the prescribed procedure in that regard.

In fine, the Writ Petition is disposed on the aforesaid terms.
