Respondents PRAYER: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to permit the petitioner to conduct Kanuparivettai Festival for Sri Koodal Alagar Perumal deity of Arulmigu Koodal Alagar Perumal Temple, Perumal Temple, Perumal Kovil Sannathi Street, Madurai at Anupanady, Madurai Town on 15.01.2021 and 16.01.2021, based on the representation of the petitioner, dated 04.01.2021. ORDER

Mr.K.P.Narayanakumar, learned Special Government Pleader, takes notice of R1 to R3. Thiru.S.Manoharan, learned counsel takes notice for R4.

2.The petitioner is one of the Hereditary Trustees of the Sri Melaramanuja Kooda Dharma Paribalana Sabai. The said Sabai conducts Kanuparivettai Festival every year. The petitioner's apprehension https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/ 1/2

W.P.(MD)No.362 of 2021 is that in view of COVID-19 pandemic and other lock down restrictions, he may not be granted requisite permission. 3.When the Government has permitted the theatres to open with 100 percent occupancy and Jallikattu is to be conducted, there is no reason to deny permission to the petitioner to conduct the petition mentioned event.

4.The petitioner's counsel, on instructions, states that he would adhere to all the safety norms that may be prescribed by the District Administration as well as the Temple Administration. 5.Recording the said undertaking, the respondents are directed to permit the petitioner to conduct the petition mentioned event. The Writ petition is allowed. No costs.
