ORDER

[Order of the Court was made by M.DURAISWAMY,J.] The petitioner has filed the above writ petition to issue a writ of mandamus directing the first respondent to grant permission to conduct Vadamadu Manjuvirattu to be held on 15.01.2020 at Chokkanathapuram Village, Pattukottai Taluk, Thanjavur District by considering the representation dated 23.12.2019.

2. The petitioner has made the said representation, dated 23.12.2019 to the first respondent to grant permission to conduct Manjuvirattu (Bull Race), but the said representation was not considered so far. Hence, the petitioner has filed the present Writ Petition for the relief stated supra.

3. Heard both sides and perused the materials available on record.

W.P(MD)No.363 of 2020 direction, this Court is not inclined to grant such a direction. However, the main grievance of the petitioner is that the said representation, dated 23.12.2019 is not considered so far. Therefore, this Court is of the opinion that a direction could be given to the first respondent to consider the said representation by affording an opportunity of personal hearing to the petitioner.

Accordingly, the first respondent is directed to consider the petitioner's representation dated 23.12.2019 by affording an opportunity of personal hearing to the petitioner and pass appropriate orders on 14.01.2020 with regard to granting permission to conduct the Manjuvirattu. It is made clear that this Court has not expressed any opinion on the merits of the matter and it is for the first respondent to consider the same while disposing of the representation.
