This writ petition has been filed in the nature of a Mandamus seeking a direction against the respondent, Director of Geology and Mining at Chennai, to dispose of the appeal filed by the petitioner herein, which was received by the said respondent on 25.03.2021.
2. The fact that the respondent had so received the appeal papers on 25.03.2021 is evident from the letter addressed by the said respondent to the District Collector, Kanyakumari District, on 27.04.2021 in Na.Ka.No.2164/MM/6/2021 in which, the second reference is the appeal filed by the petitioner herein.
3. Heard the learned counsel appearing on either side and perused the materials available on record.
4. A direction is given that the respondent should apply his mind and must also keep in mind that the appeal is now pending for the 2/4
past more than two years. Effective steps should be taken to dispose of the appeal within a period of twelve (12) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. Since the issues are now pending before the respondent, this Court has refrained from entering into a discussion on the facts of the case.
5. With the above directions, the writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
