This Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the first to third respondents to cancel the erroneous Town Survey Land Register (TSLR) issued in respect of the land situated at Ward No.6, Block No.25, Puliyanthoppu, Thanjavur, to rectify the error and to re-issue the TSLR in the name of the petitioner for the land comprised in Old Survey No.1324/2 and New Survey No.1324/2, based on the petitioner's representation dated 26.11.2025.
2. With the consent of the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the first to third respondents, this Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself, dispensing with notice to the fourth and fifth respondents, as no adverse orders are proposed to be passed against them. 3. The case of the petitioner is that the subject property belongs to the petitioner and was allotted to him under a Family Arrangement Deed dated 18.01.2007. The said property was originally purchased by the petitioner's brother from the legal heirs of one Mr. Krishnasami Pillai on 04.03.1991. After the said purchase, patta was mutated in the name of the petitioner's brother.
4. However, when the petitioner attempted to mutate the Town Survey Land Register (TSLR) from his brother's name to his own name, he came to know that the name of the original owner, namely Krishnasami Pillai, had been wrongly entered in the TSLR. Therefore, the petitioner submitted a representation dated 26.11.2025 seeking cancellation of the erroneous Town Survey Land Register (TSLR), rectification of the error, and re-issuance of the TSLR in the name of the petitioner. Since the official respondents have not considered the petitioner's request, the petitioner was constrained to file the present Writ Petition.
5. The learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the first to third respondents would submit that the petitioner's representation Page No. 3 of 6
dated 26.11.2025 would be considered and appropriate orders would be passed, within a period of twelve weeks.
6. Recording the above submission and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, this Writ Petition is disposed of with a direction to the first to third respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 26.11.2025 on its merits and in accordance with law and pass appropriate orders within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The representation dated 26.11.2025 shall be considered and disposed of after conducting an enquiry. The first to third respondents are also directed to provide a reasonable opportunity during such enquiry to the petitioner, private respondents and any other interested parties who may be affected by the decision. In the event of any rival claims, the parties are at liberty to pursue their remedies before the Civil Court. There shall be no order as to costs.
