W.P.(MD)No.604 of 2021:

Sunder : Petitioner Vs.

O/o. the District Collector, 2.Thenkal Pasana Farmer's Association, Represented by its President, A.K.Kannan : Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking a Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus calling for the entire records pertaining to the impugned proceedings of the 1st respondent in Na.Ka.No.C3/49470/2020 dated 06.01.2021 and quash the same as illegal and consequently reconstitute the Jallikattu Organizing Committee as per the orders of the Division Bench in W.P.Nos.526/2020 dated 13.01.2020.

For Petitioner : Ms.A.Rajini For Respondents : Mr.K.P.Krishnadoss Special Government Pleader for R.1 Mr.T.Lajapathi Roy for R.2 ***** COMMON ORDER (Order of the Court was made by M.M.SUNDRESH, J.) Inasmuch as both the writ petitions are pertaining to the Jallikattu programme proposed to be held on 14.01.2021, both the writ petitions are taken up together and are disposed of by way of this common order.

2. The main grievance of the petitioners is with respect to the manner in which the programme is scheduled to be conducted. It appears that the petitioners' group did not find place in the committee and they are the objectors. To resolve the dispute and to have a democratic process, we deem it appropriate to include these two petitioners also in the members of the Committee, along with others already included in the impugned order dated 06.01.2021. We also note that the petitioners have approached this Court at the very last moment and therefore, the relief as sought for by them cannot be granted. We only hope and trust the Jallikattu programme would be conducted peacefully, as any untoward incident would be detrimental to both sides.

3. While conducting the Jallikattu programme, the official respondents will have to make sure that the earlier directions of this Court in W.P.(MD)No.526 of 2020, etc., batch, dated 13.01.2020 are implemented, in letter and spirit, to the extent possible.

4. With the above observations and directions, both the writ petitions stand disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petitions are closed.
