Respondents PRAYER : Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for the issue of a Writ of Habeas Corpus, calling for the entire records pertaining to the impugned detention order passed by the second respondent made in his proceedings in D.O.No.39 of 2020, dated 24.08.2020 in detaining the detenue of the Tamil Nadu Act, 14 of 1982 on the file of the second respondent herein as a Sexual Offender and quash the same and direct the second respondent to produce the detenue namely Thangasamy Newton, S/o.Thamas, Male, aged about 47 years, who is detained in Central Prison, Madurai, before this Court and set him at liberty.

This habeas corpus petition has been filed by the detenu, namely, Thangasamy Newton, S/o.Thamas, aged about 47 years, challenging the detention order in D.O.No.39 of 2020, dated 24.08.2020, passed by the second respondent, branding him as "Sexual Offender", as contemplated under the Tamil Nadu Act 14 of 1982. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/ 1/2

Today when the matter came up for hearing, the learned standing counsel for the respondents submitted that the petitioner was detained on 24.08.2020 and the one year period of detention is already over on 23.08.2021. Since the period of detention is already over, no further adjudication is required in this petition. 3.Recording the above submission, this Habeas Corpus Petition is closed.
