ORDER

This writ petition has been filed seeking for a direction to the 2nd respondent to give electricity service connection to the house of the petitioner situated in S.F.No. 206/2 of Mathur Village, Kulathur Taluk, Pudukottai District.

2. Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the materials placed before this Court.

3. When the matter is taken up for hearing, the learned standing counsel appearing for the second respondent Corporation submitted that the said house is situated in a government poramboke land and hence, no objection certificate from the jurisdictional thasildar is necessary. 2/4

However, this Court is of the considered view that electricity being basic amenity, the second respondent should not refuse to provide electricity service connection to the petitioner's house in the guise of no objection certificate is not produced from the revenue jurisdictional Tahsildar. That apart, the petitioner has also produced the property tax receipt with respect to the said house and it would reveal that the said building has been assessed for tax by Mathur Village Panchayat.

In view of the same, this Court hereby directs the petitioner to make fresh online application and on receipt of the same, the second respondent is directed to provide electricity service connection to the petitioner's house, situated in S.F.No. 206/2 of Mathur Village, Kulathur Taluk, Pudukottai District, without insisting upon no objection certificate from the jurisdictional Tahsildar. This writ petition is disposed of accordingly. No costs. 09.01.2025 NCC : Yes / No Index : Yes / No Sm 3/4
