The writ petition has been filed in the nature of a Mandamus seeking a direction against the second respondent / Executive Engineer, Operation and Maintenance, TANGEDCO, Manamadurai, Sivagangai District, to provide electricity connection to the agricultural land of the petitioner at Survey No.175/2H1 of Melachorikulam Village instead of providing service connection to the agricultural land in Survey No.7/17 of Thiruppachetti (South) Village, Thiruppuvanam Taluk, Sivagangai. 2/6

Notice had been issued in letter No.A/21 dated 30.10.2021. The petitioner had also given a representation on 07.12.2021.

2. In the affidavit filed in support of the writ petition, it had been stated that the petitioner wanted to put a bore-well and get electricity service connection for agricultural land at Survey No.7/17 of Thiruppachetti (South) Village. He also put up a bore-well and applied for electricity service connection. He was given a application registration number also. While he was waiting to get electricity service connection in accordance with the seniority, he received a communication from the second respondent with respect to provision of electricity service connection for Survey No.7/17. However, the water in the bore-well had dried and therefore, the petitioner sought shifting electricity connection to the other application for Survey No.175/2H1 of Melachorikulam Village. He had given a representation on 07.12.2021.

3. Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the materials available on record.

4. A direction is given to the second respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner. It is seen that the petitioner had applied for electricity service connection for both the survey numbers namely, S.No.7/17 of Thiruppachetti (South) Village and 175/2H1 of Melachorikulam Village at Sivagangai. Now he does not want the electricity connection for S.No.7/17 however, he seeks electricity connection for the other survey number namely, Survey No.175/2H1.

5. The second respondent is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner and pass appropriate orders within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. With the above direction, the writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
