PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent University to grant affiliation to the law college established by the petitioner educational trust namely Annai College Law, Kumbakonam by considering and passing final orders on the petitioner's application dated 28.08.2024, within the time that may be stipulated by this Court.

ORDER
The present writ petition has been filed by the Educational and Charitable Trust seeking a mandamus as against the respondent University to grant affiliation to the law college established by them based upon their application dated 28.08.2024.

A perusal of the records reveal that the Government of Tamil Nadu has issued G.O.Ms.No.755, Law(LS) Department, dated 27.08.2024 granting permission to the petitioner's Trust to establish the law college. On 28.08.2024, the petitioner's Trust has made an application to the respondent University seeking affiliation. On 02.08.2025, a resolution was passed in the syndicate of the respondent University constituting an inspection committee to consider the grant of affiliation to offer 5 year B.A., L.L.B. and 3 year L.L.B. degree courses. After inspection, the committee has noted two infirmities and sought clarification from the petitioner's Trust.

3. The petitioner's Trust vide its letter dated 11.12.2025 has submitted their clarification/explanation. According to the learned Counsel appearing for the petitioner, the defects that have been pointed out by the inspection committee in their report have been rectified and clarifications have been offered.

The learned Standing counsel appearing for the respondent University, relying upon the written instructions received from the respondent, submitted that the clarifications submitted by the petitioner's Trust are to be placed before the ensuing syndicate meeting for consideration and for taking further course of action in this regard.
5. Considering the above said facts, the respondent University is directed to place it before the ensuing syndicate meeting and ensure a decision is arrived at on or before 31.03.2026.
6. With the above said observations, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
