ORDER
This Writ Petition has been filed challenging the impugned order passed by the 2nd respondent dated 27.12.2024 and direct the 2nd respondent to give the permission and police protection to conduct the Kabaddi Competition on 10.01.2025 to 12.01.2025 at Kandalur Village, Thiruverumbur Taluk in Trichy District.
2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor takes notice for the respondents. By consent, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.
3.The contention of the petitioner is that during Pongal festival to conduct Kabaddi competition from 10.01.2025 to 12.01.2025 a requisition was submitted before the respondent police and the same was refused by the respondent police stating that in the year 2016, there were two criminal cases filed in Cr.Nos.150 and 151 of 2016 filed during the festival and now, the cases are pending before the concerned Court. However, after a lapse of 8 years now peace is prevailing in the village. 2/5
Only for the welfare of the village people and to conduct sports festival, prayed to quash the impugned order.
4.The learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that during the festival in the year 2016, two cases were registered due to the assault committed on the police officials. In those cases, after completion of investigation charge sheet were filed before the concerned Court and posted for examination of witnesses. Hence, prays to dismiss the petition.
5.Considering the submissions made on either side, it is seen that due to the assault committed on the police officials, two cases were registered and they are at the fag end of trial. Though the petitioner claims that they will abide by any condition imposed by this Court, considering the earlier offence committed during the festival period, this Court finds that there is no infirmity in the rejection order passed by the respondent police.
