Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus to forbear the respondents from in any way effecting promotions on the strength of the seniority list /panel dated 07.01.2008 and consequentially to direct the 4th respondent to prepare the panel of Bill Collectors/Administrative Officer/ Superintendent / Assistants / Accountants /Steno-Graphers / Junior Assistant every year fixing 1st April of every year as crucial date removing the name of the respondents 5 to 66 who are not qualified for inclusion in the panel in conformity with Rule 24 of the Tamil Nadu Municipal Corporation Service Rules 1996.

This writ petition relates to the seniority of the petitioner. It is stated that the petitioner died during the pendency of the writ petition and hence the prayer sought for in this writ petition has become infructuous.

2.Therefore, a request was made by the learned counsels on either side to dismiss the writ petition as infructuous. Accordingly, the writ petition is dismissed as infructuous. No costs.
