ORDER

The petitioner seeks to quash the final report in C.C.No.2302 of 2023 on the file of the Additional Mahila Court, Madurai, which was filed for the offence under Section 506(i) of IPC and Section 4 of TN Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act, 2002.

2. The allegation in the final report is that the petitioner and the defacto complainant are known to each other; that on 05.12.2015, the petitioner went to the workplace of the defacto complainant and threatened her that if she refused to marry him, he would commit suicide and thus, committed the aforesaid offences.

3. Admittedly, the parties have now entered into a compromise and decided to give a quietus to the entire dispute. The parties have filed a joint compromise memo dated 11.09.2025 and the scanned copy of the compromise memo reads as follows:

4. The petitioner, namely, Venkateshwaran (Aadhaar No.8330 0573 3505) and the second respondent, namely, Kiruba (Aadhaar No.3640 4451 1801) are present before this Court in person. They are identified by Mr.N.Muthaiah, Special Sub-Inspector of Police, N.P.Kottai Police Station, Madurai District. All the parties confirmed the compromise arrived at between them. 5/7

In view of the same and considering the nature of the offences and the relationship between the parties, this Court is of the view that no useful purpose would be served by keeping the impugned final report pending trial. Accordingly, the impugned final report in C.C.No.2302 of 2023 on the file of the Additional Mahila Court, Madurai, is quashed and the Criminal Original Petition stands allowed.
