PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the Respondents No.1 and 2 to complete the Renovation/Reconstruction Works of Platform Roof in Platform No.4 within a reasonable period and reallot the Shops situated at Platform No.4, Shop Nos.1, 2, 5 to 12, MGR Bus Stand, Mattuthavani, Madurai to the petitioners within the time frame stipulated by this Court.

ORDER
The present writ petition has been filed by the 10 shop owners who are having shops in platform No.4 of the Mattuthavani Bus Stand, Madurai, seeking a mandamus directing the respondents 1 and 2 to complete the renovation work and re-allot the shops in favour of the writ petitioners.
2. The written instructions has been submitted by the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents 1 and 2 to the effect that if the petitioners vacate the shops immediately, renovation works will be undertaken and it will be completed on or before 22.09.2026. Proceedings of the Corporation dated 22.12.2025 points out that after renovation, the respective 2/4
shops will be allotted in favour of the petitioners. Both these proceedings are taken on record.

The learned Senior Counsel appearing for the writ petitioners submits that the writ petitioners would vacate their respective shops and handover the possession of the same to the respondents 1 and 2 on or before 20.01.2026. The respondent authorities are directed to complete the renovation work and re-allot the respective shops to the writ petitioners from 01.10.2026. It is needless to point that rent shall not be collected for the period during which renovation work is being undertaken.
4. With the above said observations, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
