Respondents PRAYER: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a writ of habeas corpus calling for the records relating to the impugned order of detention of the detenu Arjun, son of Murugan, aged 22 years, now detained at Central Prison, Madurai under Section 2(gg) of the Act 14 of 1982 vide detention order dated 12.12.2019 passed by the second respondent in Detention Order No.23/2019 and set aside the same as illegal and consequently, direct the respondents herein to produce the body or person of the said detenu before this Court and thereafter, set him at liberty.

O R D E R

[Order of the Court was made by K.KALYANASUNDARAM, J.] The mother of the detenu has filed the habeas corpus petition seeking to quash the proceedings of the second respondent in Detention Order No.23/2019 dated 12.12.2019, branding the detenu namely, Arjun Son of Murugan, aged about 22 years, as a "Sand Offender" as contemplated under Section 2(gg) of Tamil Nadu Act, 14 of 1982, detained him at the Central Prison, Madurai and to set him at liberty.

2. When the matter is taken up for hearing, the learned counsel for the petitioner as well as the learned Additional Public Prosecutor for the respondents, by producing a copy of G.O.Rt.No.530, Home, Prohibition & Excise (XI) Department, dated 29.01.2020, would state that the impugned detention order has been revoked.

3. Recording the above submissions, the habeas corpus petition is closed.
