ORDER
The present Writ Petition has been filed seeking a Writ of Mandamus, directing the first respondent to sanction and grant Tamil Scholar family pension to the petitioner with effect from 12.10.2003.
2. According to the petitioner, her husband, Mr.Rasayya was a Tamil scholar and he was receiving Tamil scholar pension from the Government of Tamil Nadu. He had passed away on 12.10.2003. Hence, the petitioner has prayed for issuance of Tamil Scholar family pension to her. The petitioner has sent a representation to the first respondent as well as the second respondent on 21.01.2013. However, the said representation has not been considered. Hence, the present writ petition. 2/5
3. The learned Special Government Pleader for the respondent submitted that under G.O.Ms.No.69, Tamil Development and Information (Tha.va 1-2) Department, dated 22.05.2014, the Government has taken a policy decision to grant family pension to the legal heirs of the deceased Tamil Scholar. The Director of Tamil Development is directed to consider the request of the writ petitioner in the light of the said Government Order and pass orders within a period of twelve (12) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
4. The writ petition stands allowed. There shall be no order as to costs.
