Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the Respondents No.1 to 3 to provide adequate police protection for the Vellalore Nadu Ealaikatha Amman Kovil festival from 10.09.2018 to 26.09.2018 in Melur Taluk, Madurai District by considering the petitioner's representation dated 18.08.2018.

ORDER : This petition coming on for orders upon perusing the petition and the affidavit filed in support thereof and upon hearing the arguments of Mr.L.SHAJI CHELLAN, Advocate for the petitioner and https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

of Mr.B.BHAGAWATHI, Government Advocate for R1 to R3 and Mr.S.M.A.JINNAH, Advocate for R4, the court made the following order:- Mr.B.Bhagawathi, learned Government Advocate takes notice for the respondents 1 to 3.

2.Mr.S.M.A.Jinnah, learned counsel takes notice for the fourth respondent.

3.Notice to the respondents 5 to 7 returnable by 20.09.2018. 4.It is seen from the records that the festival has already commenced on 10.09.2018 and the festival will go on till 26.09.2018. 5.The Inspector of Police / the third respondent is present before this Court in person.

6.The learned Government Advocate on instructions would submit that no one is recognised as an Ambalakarar and the festival is being conducted with participation of the entire community. 7.The learned counsel appearing for the fourth respondent seeks time to file a counter.

8.It is made clear that the festival shall go on by permitting to participate all the parties in the community. The third respondent shall not recognise anybody as an Ambalakarar and give any preference to anyone pending disposal of the Review Petition. 9.Registry is directed to post the matter on 20.09.2018. sd/- 17/09/2018 / TRUE COPY / Sub-Assistant Registrar (C.S.)
