PRAYER: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to A) At the time of riot and at the time of vehicle checkup when the police were attacked if a policeman killed or injured by Anti Social elements, the NHRC (OR) SHRC should take appropriate action.
B) Directing all superintendent of police in districts/the commissioner of police in cities to ensure that all police personnel are carrying arms during vehicle check up and other law and order duties and to issue a standard operating procedures for the use of arms.
C) In all the check post specially in border check post of interstate, the Government must install CC TV Camera having control room of Centre of all Commissioner office, District Superintendent Office. D) Directing the 5th respondent to take necessary action to curtail the increasing law and problems and other crime like committing theft, chain snatching, rape, robbery, murders, kidnapping, extortion of money, murder for gain, contract killing, two wheeler thefts.

ORDER
(Order of the Court was made by S.M.SUBRAMANIAM, J.) With reference to the relief sought for in the present Writ Petition, in the event of receiving any specific complaint, the authorities competent, including Police authorities are bound to initiate action. However, there need not be any general direction for initiation of action in accordance with law, since it is the duty of the authorities competent to initiate appropriate action in the event of receiving any complaint or information regarding the crimes, illegality or otherwise. 3/5
2.With the above observation, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
