ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to grant permission and to provide police protection to conduct the Attention grabbing Demonstration and Cycle Rally on 27.01.2023 on behalf of the organization from Theni District, Periyakulam Taluk, Kenguvarpatti Village to Chennai George Fort.

2. Mr.E.Antony Sahaya Prabahar, learned Additional Public Prosecutor takes notice for the respondents.

3. The learned counsel appearing for the writ petitioner would submit that in order to conduct cycle rally, they sought permission of the police by giving a representation dated 04.01.2023. But, the respondents have not considered the said representation. Since no order was passed, the writ petitioner has come before this Court for the above said relief. He would further submit that now they are restricting the cycle rally from Kumily, Theni to District Collectorate, Theni scheduled to be held on 11.02.2023.

The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents would submit that Kumily comes under the jurisdiction of Gudalur Police Station, Uthamapalayam Sub Division and hence, they may be directed to give a fresh representation before the concerned police station (i.e.,) Gudalur Police Station, Theni District.

5. Recording the submissions made on either sides, the writ petitioner is directed to give a fresh representation indicating the place of commencing the rally and the ending point, date and other required particulars before the Inspector of Police, Gudalur Police Station, Theni District.

6. With the above directions, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
