ORDER

Mr.S.Deenadhayalan, learned Standing Counsel takes notice for the respondents. By consent of both the parties, this writ petition is taken up for final hearing at the admission stage itself.

2. The prayer in the Writ Petition reads as follows:- "To issue a Writ of Mandamus, to to direct the Respondents to provide new electricity connection to the Petitioner house situated at No.140/10, North Street, Kottapalayam East, Thuraiyur Taluk, Trichirapalli District."

3. Heard the learned counsels on either sides and carefully perused the materials available on record.

4. Considering the fact that an electricity connection is a basic necessity, the application made by a citizen of India should not be denied by the respondents.

5. Accordingly, the respondents are directed to provide electricity connection to the petitioner, within a period four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. With the above said direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to the costs.
