ORDER

This writ petition is filed for issuing a writ of Mandamus directing the respondent to dispose of the petitioner's appeal filed on 13.01.2016 before the respondent.

2.Mr.M.Rajarajan, learned standing counsel, takes notice for the respondent. By consent of both parties, this writ petition is taken up for disposal at the admission stage itself. 3.The petitioner states that his application for renewal of licence was dismissed earlier by citing an adverse report to the effect that a criminal case is pending against the petitioner in Crime No.559 of 2012. The petitioner further states that as against the order, an appeal was filed by the petitioner before the respondent. Since, the appeal is pending for more than four years, the petitioner has came before this Court by way of the present writ petition.

4.Having regard to the limited scope of the prayer that is sought for in the writ petition, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the petitioner's appeal, this Court is inclined to issue the following direction to the respondent. (i)The respondent is directed to consider and dispose of the petitioner's appeal filed on 13.01.2016 on merits and in https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/ 1/2

W.P.(MD).No.1142 of 2020 accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of the copy of this order.

5.With the above direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
