JUDGMENT

[Judgment of the Court was made by DR.G.JAYACHANDRAN, J.] Appeal by the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation being aggrieved by the order passed by the learned Judge in W.P.(MD)No.8690 of 2021, allowing the Writ Petition filed by the respondent herein seeking settlement of the terminal benefits with interest a the rate of 18% from 30.04.2014. The learned Single Judge substantially allowed the prayer except restricting the rate of interest at 6% from the date of retirement till the date of realisation.

2.In the appeal, the management had questioned the legality of the order passed by the learned Single Judge directing the management to pay the benefits with interest and also the quantum of benefit to be paid, also been disputed.

3.Pending appeal, the appellant management and the respondent / ex-employee had arrived at a settlement regarding the payment of retirement benefits. The employee has agreed to receive the retirement benefits which works out to Rs.6,11,552/- along with gratuity of Rs.10 Lakhs without any interest. The appellant had furnished the bill for payment for balance EL leave salary and the proposed final settlement of gratuity in respect of the first respondent namely Arulanandam. 4.Learned Counsel appearing for the respondent concedes the settlement as stated above and acknowledges the receipt of the copy of proposed final settlement.

5.Recording the same, the Writ Appeal stands disposed of as settled among the parties. There shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petitions are closed. [G.J., J.] & [K.K.R.K., J.] 19.02.2026 NCC :
