PRAYER: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to take necessary action against illicit cutting of trees in Panchayat lands and Government poramboke land situated in S.F.No.863/2 and 863/1 and to recover the damages from offenders and initiate criminal proceedings in light of Tamil Nadu Panchayats (Action against illicit cutting of tree) Rules, 2001, considering the petitioner's representations dated 26.10.2024 and 05.12.2024.

[Order of the Court was made by J.NISHA BANU, J.] It is the grievance of the petitioner that her representations dated 26.10.2024 and 05.12.2024 to take necessary action against illicit cutting of trees in Panchayat lands and Government poramboke land situated in S.F.Nos.863/2 and 863/1 and to recover the damages from offenders and initiate criminal proceedings in the light of Tamil Nadu Panchayats (Action against illicit cutting of tree) Rules, 2001, are kept pending till date without any progress. Therefore, she has filed this Writ Petition.

2.The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondents 3 and 5 would submit that case in Crime No.22 of 2025 on the file of the 5th respondent has been registered against seven persons on 10.02.2025. Therefore, nothing survives for further adjudication in this petition. 3.Recording the said submission, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
