This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the first respondent to waive the demand notice issued in Ka.Mu.No. 175/2025/A6 dated 11.12.2025 by the second respondent in respect of the pension amount received by the petitioner under the Tamil Nadu Weakened Drama Artist Pension Scheme, by considering the petitioner's representation dated 19.12.2025, within a time frame to be stipulated by this Court.
2. The petitioner's husband was a village drama artist and was receiving a monthly pension of Rs.3,000/- under the Tamil Nadu Weakened Drama Artist Pension Scheme. Thereafter, the second respondent issued a demand notice calling upon the petitioner to repay a sum of Rs.54,000/- credited to her husband's account for the period 2024-2025, after his demise. As the petitioner has no independent source of income to repay the said amount, she submitted a representation dated 19.12.2025 to the respondents seeking waiver of the demand notice. However, no action 2/5
has been taken by the respondents on the representation till date. Hence, the present Writ Petition.
3. The learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents submitted that the petitioner's representation would be considered in accordance with law.
4. In view of the above, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, this Court directs the first respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 19.12.2025, taking into account the financial condition of the petitioner, and to pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
5. With the above directions, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
