Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondents to settle the interest for the belated payment of retirement benefits such as Gratuity, Earned Leave, Provident fund and other retirement benefits payable to the petitioner with 6% rate of interest.

ORDER

The instant writ petition has been filed by a retired employee of the respondent Transport Corporation, seeking a mandamus directing the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of petitioner's terminal benefits.

2. According to the learned Counsel appearing for the writ petitioner, the petitioner was appointed in the transport corporation on 06.01.1992 and he had attained superannuation on 30.04.2019. The terminal benefits were disbursed belatedly to the writ petitioner only on 22.01.2021. Hence, he sent a representation on 04.12.2024, seeking 2/4

interest for the belated payment. Since, there is no response from the respondents authorities, the present writ petition has been filed.

3. Considering the above said facts, the respondent Transport Corporation is directed to pay interest at the rate of 6% from the due date till the date of disbursement within a period of twelve (12) weeks from the date of receipt of a receipt of a copy of this order. 4.With the above said observations, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
