Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents to grant permission to conduct sports, at Mallantaar Kovil Ground, Rajapuram, Karur, in connection with Pongal Celebration on 15.01.2026 to 17.01.2026 by considering the representation submitted by the petitioner dated 08.01.2026 in accordance with law within the time stipulated by this Court.

ORDER

The present Writ Petition has been filed for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents to grant permission to conduct sports, at

Mallantaar Kovil Ground, Rajapuram, Karur, in connection with Pongal Celebration on 15.01.2026 to 17.01.2026 by considering the representation submitted by the petitioner dated 08.01.2026 in accordance with law within the time stipulated by this Court.

2.The learned Counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that they are conducting festival for the past 24 years. The said submission is recorded. Since there are two rival groups claiming the same place, the respondents are directed to permit both the rival groups to conduct the pongal celebration on different date and time.

3. If the rival groups are selecting different places, the same may be allowed on any date and time. The function may be restricted to two days alone for each group.

4.With the above observations, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
