JUDGMENT

(Judgment of the Court was made by G.R.SWAMINATHAN, J.) There is no appearance on behalf of the appellant.

2. The appellant filed W.P.(MD)No.21394 of 2015 seeking appointment on compassionate grounds. The writ petition was dismissed by the learned single Judge on 04.12.2020. Challenging the same, this writ appeal has been filed.

The learned standing counsel for V.O.Chidambaranar Port Trust points out that the writ petitioner's father was an employee of the Tuticorin Stevedore's Association and that he passed away in the year 1997. Stevedore's Association was merged with port trust only in the year 2000 and an application seeking appointment on compassionate ground was only in the year 2013.

4. Taking into account all these aspects, the learned single Judge rightly negatived the petitioner's request. Interference with the said order is not called for. It is relevant to note that the application for appointment on compassionate ground was made after a lapse of 16 years after the demise of the appellant's father. The writ appeal is dismissed.
