.. Respondents Prayer: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to immediately return the jewels of the petitioner weighing about 141.00

grams namely four gold bangles, one gold chain, only one gold ring without customs duty considering the petitioner's situation and representation dated 08.12.2024.

ORDER

Heard Mr.R.Sevugaraja, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.R.Gowrishankar, learned Central Government Standing Counsel appearing on behalf of the respondents.

2. Even though the prayer sought for in the writ petition is to return the jewels weighing about 141 grams, it is seen that the petitioner had made a representation to the respondents on 08.12.2024 and since the proceedings for confiscation has been initiated by the third respondent, the third respondent is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 08.12.2024 and pass orders within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

3. With the aforesaid direction, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
