PRAYER: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents not to remove the gravel / sand from the land situated in Survey No.76/1 and 70/2 in Thatchanenthal Village, Sembanur Panchayat, Kalaiyarkovil Taluk, Sivagangai District and to restore the lands to its original positions.

(Order of the Court was made by S.M.SUBRAMANIAM, J.) Today (08.07.2025), when the matter is taken up for hearing, the learned Government Pleader appearing for the respondents 1 to 4 would submit that gravel / sand quarrying operations have been stopped. If any illegal quarrying operations are identified or any complaints are received, the authorities competent are bound to initiate action including criminal prosecution against the offenders. 2/4
2.With the above observation, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
